Salman Khan’s 2004 action drama Garv: Pride & Honour makes a grand reentry into theaters across North India. This strategic move comes at a time when the box office has been experiencing a slump due to a lack of new releases, prompting exhibitors to revisit proven blockbusters to rejuvenate cinema footfall.

Directed by Puneet Issar, Garv: Pride & Honour features an ensemble cast including Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Arbaaz Khan, and Amrish Puri. Khan’s portrayal of ACP Arjun Ranawat, a tough and principled cop, resonated strongly with audiences upon the film’s original release.

Joginder Mahajan, a prominent film distributor in North India, has spearheaded the initiative, highlighting the enduring appeal of Salman Khan’s films among audiences. Despite initial reservations from cinema owners regarding ticket pricing, Mahajan emphasizes the importance of competitive rates to attract viewers away from alternative entertainment platforms like television and OTT services.

With ticket prices ranging from $ 1 to $ 3 in most theaters, Mahajan recommends a significant reduction for re-releases, suggesting an average price below $ 1. Lower ticket prices not only encourage more footfall but also boost ancillary revenue streams such as concessions.

The decision to re-release Garv: Pride & Honour has already shown promise, with the film securing screenings in 50 theaters initially. Encouraged by its performance, the reach of the re-release is expanding to additional cities like Varanasi, Ludhiana, and Bulandshahr, demonstrating sustained interest among audiences.

The resurgence of Garv: Pride & Honour comes amidst anticipation for Salman Khan’s upcoming projects. The actor is set to star in AR Murugadoss’s action-packed extravaganza, Sikandar, scheduled for release on Eid 2025. Additionally, Khan has joined forces with Karan Johar for The Bull, directed by Vishnuvardhan, known for his work on the acclaimed biopic Shershaah.
