Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue slay at Billboard Music Awards
Thirty years after becoming the first female rap act to break the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Salt-N-Pepa took the stage at the Billboard Music Awards. Salt (Cheryl James), Pepa (Sandra Denton), and DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper) performed a mashup of some of their biggest hits from back in the day, and they showed that they still have it.
Each song proved to have held up, and had the crowd moving and singing along. They led with their No. 1 single, “Shoop,” followed by “Let’s Talk About Sex,” then “Push It.” When it came time for “Whatta Man” from the album Very Necessary, Salt, Pepa, and Spinderella were joined onstage by the group they collaborated with all those years ago, En Vogue. At the end, even Kelly Clarkson, who was only 11 when Very Necessary came out, joined in.
