Sam Asghari Slams ‘False’ Claims That He Will Challenge Britney Spears’ Prenup
Actor Sam Asghari is reportedly not trying to contest the prenup that Britney Spears put together ahead of their marriage.
After meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016, the couple became engaged in September 2021 and tied the knot in June 2022. Unfortunately, their relationship faced rumors of trouble, and in March 2023, they were both photographed without wearing their wedding rings. On August 16, Sam filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

According to the divorce filing, the actor listed July 28, 2023, as the reason for the separation and is requesting both spousal support and attorney's fees. If that wasn't enough, it also appeared that he was contesting the divorce.
According to the court documents, the actor “has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.” It goes on to say, “There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time.”
On Wednesday night, a source had told Page Six that the 29-year-old actor was reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.” However, on Thursday night, a rep for the actor denied that allegation.
Sam Addresses His Divorce On Instagram: 'Sh*t Happens'
A rep for the actor, Brandon Cohen, told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday night that he had no intention of challenging the prenup. “There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” his rep told THR. “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”
The statement followed a brief message that Sam shared on his Instagram Stories on Thursday afternoon. “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always,” he wrote. “Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Kevin Federline's Child Support From Britney Spears Might Be Affected If Sam Asghari Challenges Prenup
Later on Thursday night, the attorney for Britney Spears’s ex-husband Kevin Federline, Mark Vincent Kaplan, revealed that a challenge to the prenup could affect K-Fed’s child support payments. Britney and Kevin were married from 2004 to 2007 and share two teenage boys: Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16.
“If she’s seeking to modify the child support that she pays Kevin because she no longer has the same degree of ability to pay what she did prior to her divorce with Sam, then that would have to be litigated in the child support court,” Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six on Thursday.
“She would be better off just to pay it and focus her energies on the Asghari litigation,” Kaplan added, noting that it would probably be better for Britney to try to afford a legal fight. “There’s not much more left in the time that Britney is going to be paying child support. It’s less than two years. If she just continues paying the child support regardless of whatever settlement she makes with Sam, there’d be no reason to go and challenge it.”
Earlier in the day, Kevin Federline had reportedly wished his ex-wife his best wishes amid her divorce.
