Samuel L. Jackson thinks de-aged 'Captain Marvel' character is based on this old movie of his
Captain Marvel takes place in the mid-1990s, which means Samuel L. Jackson’s digitally de-aged agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury needed an appropriate model to be as accurate as possible.
So when the filmmakers told Jackson they were going through his old movies from that period to find a suitable look, he figured he knew exactly which one would fit the bill.
“I was like, ‘Oh, that will probably be like Negotiator face,'” Jackson told Yahoo Entertainment, referring to the 1998 thriller that had him squaring off against Kevin Spacey (watch above). “Which is probably what it was.”
Technically Captain Marvel takes place in 1995, so it might have been more accurate to go with Pulp Fiction (1994), Kiss of Death (1995) or Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995). Or better yet, 1996 releases like A Time to Kill or The Great White Hype that were filmed in 1995. And maybe Young Fury is an amalgam of them all.
Not like Jackson was able to offer any input: “They don’t ask us anything,” he laughed.
As for whom he thinks was more handsome — 1995 Samuel L. Jackson or 1995 Nick Fury — the 70-year-old actor’s answer might surprise you.
“I like ’95 Fury,” he said.
