Sandra Oh, Elizabeth Banks and Eva Longoria Board ‘The Vagina Monologues’-Inspired ‘The Midlife Monologues’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Sandra Oh, Elizabeth Banks and Eva Longoria are just a few of the names who have signed on for Constance Zimmer and Abby Epstein’s “The Midlife Monologues,” a docu-theater piece inspired by Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues.”
“Our goal with ‘The Midlife Monologues’ is to shine a light on what’s often called the most ‘invisible decade’ in a woman’s life — a time filled with unique challenges, self-doubt, all while riding the hormonal rollercoaster,” Zimmer said in a statement Friday, which is also World Menopause Day.

Performances are slated for early 2025, with one-night-only events planned in Los Angeles and New York. Also set to participate are Pamela Adlon, Maria Bello, Yvette Nicole Brown, Margaret Cho, Shanola Hampton, Sarah Jones, Ricki Lake, Padma Lakshmi, Marlee Matlin, Holly Robinson Peete, Martha Plimpton, Carrie Preston, Aisha Tyler and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
“Our show aims to reclaim midlife as a time of empowerment and visibility,” Epstein said. “We believe this extraordinary group of voices will help elevate ‘The Midlife Monologues’ into something truly transformative.”
Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” is an episodic play that premiered in 1996 with an Off-Broadway run at the Westside Theatre. The performance was a result of a series of interviews Ensler conducted as she traveled around the world. She would meet women and ask them about their vaginas. As of today, almost 30 years later, the play has been translated in over 48 languages and performed in more than 148 countries.
