Saoirse Ronan’s Cool-Toned Business Fit Might Give You Frostbite

Being able to expertly mix colors requires a certain eye, and Saoirse Ronan has certainly proved her talent in this over the years, whether she’s wearing a repurposed Gucci dress that features a black-and-cream bodice with a periwinkle skirt, or she’s pairing an orange dress with cranberry-colored heels at an Oscar nominees luncheon.
As we transition into fall, it appears the American-Irish star is embracing cool tones, as evidenced by the ensemble she sported when she stepped out of BBC Radio Studios on Wednesday afternoon.
In her ensemble, Ronan looked like an abstraction of a cloudy daytime sky, with lots of blues and grays and a few tiny pops of color that added depth, like something you might spot on an impressionist painting if you stood really close and examined each stroke.
The Lady Bird star began with a baby blue button-up, which featured pleated stripes that gave the impression of boning channels on a bustier. The snug top was tucked into a pair of navy slacks that appeared to be made out of tweed, and the pants were cinched with a skinny steel-toned belt that had undertones of olive green.
For another smoky touch, Ronan carried the new City Steamer Soft MM bag from Louis Vuitton in the Gris Trianon color. However, she added a surprising contrast to the rest of her fit with red Nappa leather boots from Malone Souliers, which peeked out from the bottom of her pants. It was an icy look that demonstrated the power of working with a strong palette.
And to quote Ronan’s on-screen sister, Amy March, from Little Women: “I want to be great or nothing.” Clearly Ronan’s living by that motto with her recent outfits.
