Saoirse Ronan on track to be lucky 13th double Oscar nominee
Saoirse Ronan is getting some of the best reviews of her career for “The Outrun,” an intense drama about a woman battling her addiction to alcohol. No surprise then that she ranks among the top 5 on our Best Actress chart. She also has a featured role in Steve McQueen‘s upcoming “Blitz” as a mother in search of her missing boy in war-torn London. Currently we have her on the cusp of reaping a bid in Best Supporting Actress as well. Expect Ronan to crack the top 5 after “Blitz” drops at the London Film Festival on Wednesday (Oct. 9).
This Irish actress, who has already racked up four Oscar nominations to date, would join these dozen performers who pulled off this double play (the seven winners are in gold.)

That isn’t a typo about Fitzgerald; he did contend in both categories because the Oscars didn’t have a rule regarding placement back then. His co-star, Bing Crosby, won the lead award. Six of the other 11 double hitters prevailed in one of their races. Of the five also-rans, Thompson and Blanchett had already taken home Best Actress Oscars while Moore would have to wait a dozen years to finally win for her starring role in “Still Alice.”
Ronan’s rivals in Best Actress are predicted to be Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Karla Sofia Gascon (“Emilia Perez”), Angelina Jolie (“Maria”) and Nicole Kidman (“Babygirl”). The Best Supporting Actress line-up currently consists of Zoe Saldana (“Emilia Perez”), Danielle Deadwyler (“The Piano Lesson”), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (“Nickel Boys”), Felicity Jones (“The Brutalist”) and Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”).
