Sarah Palin speaks out about daughter Bristol joining 'Teen Mom'
With Farrah Abraham out of the picture on Teen Mom OG, it was revealed that MTV has reportedly found her replacement. Bristol Palin will be the newest member of the cast, even though she is now 27 and has three children.
And now, her mother, Sarah Palin — best known for her unsuccessful run for vice president in 2008 — is weighing in.
TMZ tracked down the former candidate and reality star at LAX Friday and asked about her eldest daughter getting back into reality TV (Bristol has been on Dancing With the Stars and Celebrity Wife Swap, among other shows). Sarah Palin tells TMZ her daughter is going to be perfect for the show because “she’s gonna become a great messenger for overcoming a little bit of challenge and doing well in life.”
While she’s not an avid viewer, Sarah says “My daughters … are all fans of some of the girls who’ve overcome some obstacles and done well with their children.”
Sarah didn’t rule out making a guest appearance, saying, “Whatever Bristol wants, whatever my grandbabies need or want,” when the show starts taping in the fall.
Bristol Palin was engaged to the father of her youngest child, Levi Johnston, but the two broke off their engagement in 2009 and went into a lengthy custody battle. They got re-engaged in 2010 before calling it off again. Five years later, Palin became engaged to a former Marine, Dakota Meyer, but then canceled that engagement too — just before announcing she was expecting a child with him.
Eventually, she did get married to Meyer, and she gave birth to her third child last year. Palin and Meyer filed for divorce this year, but now they’re back together. To be honest, she’s kind of perfect for Teen Mom.
Twitter, interestingly, hates this casting. One person wrote, “Bristol Palin is joining the cast of MTV’s Teen Mom. That’s a joke in itself so I don’t need to come up with one about it.”
