Sarah Paulson embarrasses herself in effort to befriend Rihanna
Sarah Paulson revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that it was a “daily struggle” to not embarrass herself in front of her Ocean’s 8 castmate, Rihanna. It was a struggle she seems to have lost. While the cast included some very cool women, she focused, rather desperately, on befriending the singer. Paulson said she would sing Rihanna’s “Work” back to her, even changing the lyrics to impress her.
Paulson admitted, “I was not good. And I’m not a singer, A. B, it’s just deeply nerdy and [Sandra Bullock] would constantly look at me and be, ‘Dial it down. Just stop.’”
To the surprise of no one, Paulson’s efforts didn’t make the best impression on the pop star. She added, “[Rihanna] gives great side-eye. So, when she does it, you’re like, ‘I’m really sorry.’”
The People vs. O.J. star said that although her behavior didn’t lead to a budding friendship, “We have texted,” so, there’s that.
Also on Ellen, Jane Fonda revealed the reason she didn’t think she’d live to 80.
