Sarah Sherman (‘Saturday Night Live’) on her ‘busiest season’ yet: ‘I’m just a little speck on this great comedy icon’ [Exclusive Video Interview]

Sarah Sherman recently completed her third season as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” and as she looks back at Season 49 as a whole, she now declares, “It was a lot! It was really fun. It was the busiest season I’ve ever had. I finally got to do a season where it’s like, ‘You have to change your wig a million times an episode, and you have a bunch of quick changes.'” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

After Season 49 of “SNL” wrapped up on May 18, Sherman remembers thinking, “Why am I so much more tired at the end of this season than I have been at the end of every other season? It’s because, oh, I had to get an owl beak ripped off my face, got all the glue cleaned up and got turned into a human woman in like 30 seconds,” she chuckles before adding, “You know what I mean? Stuff like that.”

Sherman has a blast recalling some of her funniest characters and memorable moments from this past year, including: CJ Rossitano, who is quite possibly the teenage son of Colin Jost; Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s brain worm; an arch duchess who gets tossed out of a window in the “Shrimp Tower” sketch: a seriously creeped-out mother in the “Pongo” commercial; and a Billie Jean King-type figure named Charna Lee Diamond whose head flies off because of Jason Momoa‘s tennis ball. “After getting my head knocked off so many times, I’ve perfected this,” she readily admits.

The upcoming 50th season of “Saturday Night Live” is “crazy” to think about, the actress confesses. “It’s so cool to be in an ensemble because you’re in something that’s bigger than yourself, and it’s even crazier to be in an ensemble that’s part of an entire history and lineage of amazing comedy. And it’s nice to feel so small in the face of it. I’m just a little speck on this great comedy icon that is ‘SNL,’ and I feel thankful to be a part of it. And if I wasn’t a part of it, my life would look way worse,” she laughs.

Also in our exclusive video interview, Sherman describes her overall style of humor, she looks back at her first day on set three years ago, she talks about standing next to her mom on the Mother’s Day episode, and she reveals why Norm Macdonald is her favorite “Saturday Night Live” alum of all time.
