From Sarah Silverman to Taylor Tomlinson, 9 famous women bringing comedy shows to KC

It has been a monumental year for two local funny women.

Kansas City native Heidi Gardner provided some of the most memorable moments of the year on “Saturday Night Live” — including sharing a bed with the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce — served as co-host for the annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend and has visited America’s living rooms regularly with her hilarious commercials for Homes.com.

Meanwhile, University of Kansas alum Nikki Glaser, who cut her standup teeth at Kansas City’s comedy clubs, stole the show on the live May 5 broadcast of the Tom Brady roast (still available on Netflix) and earned an Emmy nomination for her special “Someday You’ll Die” on HBO/Max.

Both have upcoming dates with destiny: Glaser with the Emmy Award show Sept. 15 on ABC and Gardner kicking off her eighth “SNL” season — and the show’s 50th — Sept. 28 on NBC.

Heidi Gardner is introduced at the start of the Big Slick Party & Show earlier this year. She’ll make her “Saturday Night Live” return in September.

Glaser brought her The Good Girl Tour to the KC area twice, at Lawrence’s Lied Center in October and at the Uptown in January, but she isn’t scheduled to perform here anytime soon.

Still, the upcoming schedule is packed with a who’s who of other female comedians.

Standup comedian Iliza Shlesinger will perform Oct. 4 at the Midland.
