Savannah Guthrie Pulls Through Injury to Host Parade and Thanks Co-Host Hoda
This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was no easy one. Strong win conditions threatened to put a damper on the parade. While the floats still flew, many performers were almost thrown off their game. Even Snuffy felt the effects as Hoda captured a pic with co-host Savannah Guthrie and Snuffy being blown about by the wind.
The biggest champion of them all, however, was Savannah Guthrie. Despite being off the air from an eye injury, she showed up to host the parade.

'Today' Show Goes Country for Halloween
Savannah Guthrie was grateful for the support from her co-host Hoda Kotb. She displayed her gratitude on Instagram. She posted a pic hugging Hoda with the caption, "Thankful!"
Fans also poured their support into the comments section.
"Thankful you are back and hopefully feeling better!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!" one fan wrote.
"Glad to see you back! Happy Thanksgiving!" another wrote in the comments section.
"Be careful and safe with your eye situation. You and Hoda are an awesome team. Happy Thanksgiving," another fan wrote.
Guthrie needs all the support she can get after her chaotic fall season off of the air. The 'Today Show' host explained that she was off the air due to a gnarly illness.
"This fever is the thing. It's not a cold, it's like I just couldn't get the fever to break and so I've just been on round-the-clock medicine to keep the fever down. And I started getting this real bad cough," Savannah Guthrie said describing her illness, reports USA Today.
"But honestly, I was shocked that it was pneumonia because I feel like I breathe pretty well, like, I'm not wheezing or anything."
To make matters worse, Guthrie also missed time just days before the parade due to an eye injury. Her son threw a toy at her right eye. This resulted in her retina tearing and needing to get surgery done.
"It happened last week, and then I lost my vision in my right eye about 24 hours later," Guthrie explained.
"It turned out to be kind of serious. They were afraid my retina would detach. They told me to just take it easy and they’ve been doing a bunch of laser procedures to avoid having to do the whole surgery."
Guthrie continued to explain to the outlet, "They rushed me into this emergency procedure that I wasn’t expecting. At first, they didn’t think it had worked, but it looked like I was going to have this surgery, but now it’s looking more hopeful."
