Saweetie Claims Critics Are Creating “Negative Propaganda” Towards Her Following Festival Chaos

Saweetie attempted to alleviate an altercation taking place at Vegandale Festival in Chicago on Sunday (June 23), and in return became the main blame for a stampede erupting. She has now addressed people that she feels are trying to create “negative propaganda” towards her.

Following the frightening incident, the “Nani” rapstress empathetically tweeted out, “Hope everyone got home safe tonight. that crowd looked crazy,” to which someone barked, “Talking about the crowd looked crazy lol it was a FESTIVAL! Straight [clown] don’t bring your a** back to Chicago, you’ve done enough…it was babies out there getting trampled on for NOTHING.”

Further explaining her post, Saweetie added, “well… the crowd did look crazy which is why i hope everyone got home safe. Also, I could’ve went home after the fight broke out but i STAYED, waited & after 2 chains performed I went BACK ON STAGE to finish my set bc I CARE… u clearly don’t like me so why you stay for the rest of my set when the FESTIVAL was clearly over?”

The following day, she took time to address others who were creating false narratives and making jokes out of the “serious matter.”

My Mixtapez blog reposted a clip of the crowd running and captioned it, “Fans in Chicago take off running after Saweetie started performing on stage.”

Humorlessly, the 30-year-old fired back at the blog saying, “this was a serious matter but yall are too obsessed with creating this negative propaganda toward me.”

The crowd surge took place on Sunday afternoon, as Saweetie stopped mid-set to address a fight that was taking place in the vast crowd. “I know y’all not doing what I think y’all doing,” she could be heard saying in footage from the event. “Is everybody safe?”

Although she had good intent, her inquiry to the crowd led people to panic and run for the exit, while trampling each other and causing chaos. Following the scary event in the windy city, critics online began pointing fingers at her claiming that she made the audience believe someone had a gun.

However, a festival goer confirmed that no shots rang out.

“There wasn’t any shooting at vegandale… there was a fight and people panicked because the fear that someone would pull gun out,” they wrote.

Despite those with disdain for Saweetie at the moment, others attendees shouted out 2 Chainz for seemingly controlling the crowd with his set.

“2Chainz my new MVP because he came right out after that fight broke out & everyone ran at Vegandale expeditiously and got to it. Vegandale…do better next year in Chicago starting 2.5 hours late for the concerts was crazy af in 80+ degree weather.”

2 Chainz has not spoken out about the chaos that erupted during the festival.
