Scarface Hospitalized In Houston ICU Following Undisclosed Medical Emergency
Scarface was hospitalized this past weekend following a health scare that landed the rap legend in the intensive care unit.
On Saturday (Aug. 24), the Houston native shared a photo of himself being tended to by an employee at a local hospital, revealing his current condition. “Ouch,” the Geto Boys member wrote in the post’s caption alongside three praying hand emojis. “Grateful.”
No additional details have been released regarding exactly what led to Scarface’s hospitilization, however, it’s not the first time the rapper’s health has been a cause for concern.
In 2021, Scarface underwent a kidney transplant, with his son, Chris, serving as the donor. The rapper would later credit his son with sacrificing his own organ to help his father in a post on social media.
“My son saved my life and I can’t say enough about him,” Scarface said in a clip capturing him and his son in the hospital following the procedure. “That boy saved my life man. And I love him so much. But I always said that sh*t though. He’s the best son a guy could have. Chris, you ain’t sh*t [laughs]. Don’t make me laugh, Chris. C’mon dawg.”
The 53-year-old continued, further expressing his gratitiude toward his son. “I’m so proud of you,” he said in the clip.
“I love you too much. You saved my muthaf**kin’ life. You low down muthaf**ka. You’re selfish. Won’t let a ni**a die. That ni**a will not let me die,” Scarface said with a laugh, vowing not to be overcome with emotion while on social media.
“I ain’t gonna tear up in here in front of all these people on Instagram Live,” he joked before going on to share details regarding the kidney transplant.
News of Scarface’s hospitilization quickly spread online, with a number of his musical peers sending their well wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery, including Slim Thug, E-40, DJ Premier, Twista, Sleepy Brown, KXNG Crooked, Mannie Fresh, and DJ Quik.
