Scarlett Johansson ‘blacked out’ when she heard Colin Jost’s ‘SNL’ joke about her body: ‘Brutal’
Wait, rewind.
Scarlett Johansson “blacked out” when she saw a photo of herself pop up on “Saturday Night Live” during husband Colin Jost’s annual joke swap segment on Weekend Update in May.
“That’s like a tame version if you guys have ever seen the jokes,” Johansson told Kelly Clarkson on Thursday’s episode of her talk show. “As soon as they showed my picture, I — I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out.”
Like every “SNL” season finale, Jost, 42, and co-host Michael Che made each other say jokes they wrote for each other without ever reading them beforehand. Naturally, Che, 41, got Jost to tease the “Avengers” actress, which has become somewhat of a tradition.
“ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in ‘Her,’” Jost began during the show at the time. “Which I’ve never bothered to watch, because without that body, what’s the point of listening?”
Johansson, 39, told Clarkson, 42: “We need to, like, go into witness protection that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like, targeted. It’s so bad.”
“It is brutal,” she admitted. “I feel like every year it gets worse.”
Last year, she revealed to Clarkson that Jost sometimes tries his jokes out on her first. “He’ll love a play on words or a pun that have now become dad jokes,” she explained at the time. “They used to be just like duds and now they’re dads.”
Johansson and Jost married in October 2020, which was announced by Meals on Wheels America via Instagram at the time.
“We’re thrilled to break the news that Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost were married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and love ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC,” the post stated.
The organization explained that it was the couple’s wish to use their small ceremony for a good cause.
“Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica,” the statement said, adding, “Please consider donating to celebrate the happy couple by clicking the link in our bio.”
The pair were romantically linked in 2017 and got engaged in 2019. They welcomed their son Cosmo in 2021 and Johansson is already mom to 9-year-old daughter, Rose, from her previous marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac.
The couple recently walked the red carpet together at the “Fly Me to the Moon” New York premiere. Johansson stars in the film alongside Channing Tatum and Jost makes a cameo.
“Greg Berlanti was our director. [He’s] a huge fan of Colin’s,” the Marvel star explained as to why her beau made a surprise appearance during “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“Colin … I think he had to do it ’cause it’s, like, in our prenuptial agreement,” she joked. “If I ask him to do something, he has to be there to support me. He has to be in every one of my films.”
