Scary moment on Shark Week after Guy Fieri's primary air supply fails during dive
For Discovery’s Shark Week, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives host Guy Fieri tried out a dive in the Bahamas that left him grateful to be alive. While shooting the special, Guy Fieri’s Feeding Frenzy, the celebrity chef found himself underwater without much oxygen.
Fieri was diving with silky sharks when one of the safety divers noticed his primary air supply was leaking. The diver asked Fieri to check his oxygen gauge. Upon seeing that he was almost out of air, Fieri said, “Holy cow!”
He quickly attempted to surface in the shark-infested waters but struggled because of the lack of oxygen and the presence of dangerous predators. He eventually made it to the boat unharmed.
Red-faced and breathing hard, Fieri said “I could barely breathe. … I was huffing and puffing the whole time down there.”
Despite the scary moment, Guy was excited to resume the dive as soon as they fixed his equipment.
