‘Schitt’s Creek’ Sneak Peek: The Rose Family Hits a New Low

We all know Johnny (Eugene Levy) and Moira (Catherine O’Hara) Rose were gloriously aloof as their children David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy) grew up. But a bit of backstory revealed in tonight’s episode of Pop’s Schitt’s Creek takes it to a new level.

As you see in the sneak peek above, Johnny, Moira, and David learn that while they attended Alexis’s graduation ceremony at a high school in Switzerland, Alexis didn’t. In fact, she skipped her entire final semester. The payoff: we’ll see Alexis head back to school. “I think part of the humor for these characters, particularly David and Alexis, is they seem a little stunted,” co-creator Dan Levy told us before the season began. “You see these characters going through adolescence all over again because I don’t think they ever were really given the opportunity when they were growing up.”

Elsewhere in the episode, “Murder Mystery,” Moira agrees to attend a murder mystery party hosted by Twyla (Sarah Levy) and has to recruit others so she’s not the only guest, while Johnny and Stevie (Emily Hampshire) try to bounce back from Johnny inadvertently renting rooms by the hour last week by pitching a nearby golf course a package deal with the motel.

Schitt’s Creek airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Pop.
