Apple TV+ has canceled its musical comedy Schmigadoon! after only two seasons, co-creator Cinco Paul confirmed on his social media pages.

“I am sad to share that Apple will not be moving forward with season 3 of Schmigadoon! The season is written (including 25 new songs), but we unfortunately won’t be making it,” said Paul.

Paul expressed his gratitude to everyone involved with the show, including the cast, crew, and fans who have supported the musical comedy since its debut in 2021. Schmigadoon is the latest canceled Apple scripted series, following Swagger, The After Party, and Central Park.

“It’s a miracle we even got two seasons, honestly, and I’m so grateful we did. And to all the fans of the show out there thank you with all of my heart,” he added. “This was tough news to get, but the optimist in me is convinced it’s not the end of Schmigadoon… and maybe it’s even a happy beginning.”

What is Schmigadoon about?

Schmigadoon centers on a struggling couple, Josh and Melissa, whose lives take a magical turn after they get trapped in a fantastical musical setting, where they must complete a mission while discovering valuable life lessons along their journey.

“A couple on a backpacking trip discovers a magical town in which everyone acts like they’re in a classic musical,” the logline for Schmigadoon reads.

Schmigadoon is produced by Broadway Television and Universal Television, with Paul and Ken Daurio serving as co-creators. Paul, apart from serving as the showrunner, also wrote all the original songs for the musical comedy.

The show starred Cecily Strong as Melissa, Keegan-Michael Key as Josh, Dove Cameron as Jenny Banks, Ariana DeBose as Emcee, Jaime Camil as Sergeant Rivera, Kristin Chenoweth as Miss Codwell, Alan Cumming as Dooley Flint, and Ann Harada as Madam Frau — among others.
