School Is Back in Session: Netflix Drops First-Look Images and Sets Release Date for ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2
Kitty Song Covey and the gang are back in Seoul for a new semester in first-look images of season two of the hit Netflix dramedy XO, Kitty. Netflix released a first look of the new season and announced its release date Thursday morning.
The romantic dramedy, a spinoff of Netflix’s To All the Boys trilogy, follows the youngest Song Covey sister, Kitty, portrayed by Anna Cathcart, as she navigates her teenage years full of love and friendship while attending Korean Independent School of Seoul, often called KISS.

Season one of XO, Kitty ended with a love square of sorts after Kitty broke up with her boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) due to her budding feelings for her adversary-turned-friend Yuri (Gia Kim). However, Kitty didn’t get to tell Yuri how she felt when Yuri’s ex Julianna (Regan Aliyah) returned. To add a layer, Kitty’s former nemesis and reluctant roommate Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) confessed his feelings for her.
According to a synopsis of the new season, the titular character is in for a season full of lessons on familiar, platonic and romantic relationships. “Kitty Song Covey is back in Seoul for a new semester at KISS. She’s single for the first time in a long time, and ready for a fresh start: no more meddling, no more drama. Maybe just some casual dating,” the synopsis reads. “Emphasis on casual. But she has more to worry about than her love life, as a letter from her mother’s past sets her on a wild journey, and new faces at KISS bring change.”
Netflix also released a TikTok trend-inspired video Thursday, announcing the show will be premiering its second season on Jan. 16, 2025. “Kitty is coming back” a voice exclaims in the video as Cathcart whips her head to the camera to yell, “When?”
XO, Kitty was renewed for its second season just four weeks after it racked up 72 million hours of viewing worldwide in its first week, according to Netflix’s internal figures.
To All the Boys author Jenny Han created the series. Jessica O’Toole acts as showrunner and writer of XO, Kitty season two. They executive produce the show, which comes from Awesomeness Studios, along with Matt Kaplan of ACE Entertainment.
