ScHoolboy Q Allegedly Says Kanye West Was “Canceled” Unfairly During “Blueslides” Performance
ScHoolboy Q has apparaently provided context to lyrics from a song on his new album, in which he speaks on a popular music artist that’s been “cancelled” in an “unfair” manner.
According to a social media user, the TDE rapper inadvertently revealed that the artist he was speaking of on the Blue Lips song “Blueslides” was Kanye West during a recent live performance. Reddit user u/TheMisiak, who claims to have attended a concert headlined by Q as part of his Blue Lips Weekends tour, took to the platform to share his knowledge of the rapper’s revelation.
TheMisiak says he remembers ScHoolboy rapping West’s name during the edited portion of the song’s official version released on Blue Lips. “When Q performed Blueslides he didn’t censor himself like he did on the track itself,” the fan wrote on Reddit.
“Just thought it was interesting that he waited until the tour to reveal who he was referencing,” the user wrote. “While doing his interview with Nadeska he wouldn’t elaborate on what that line meant or who he was talking about. Also if there are still tickets available in your city for his show I cannot recommend going enough. Best concert of my life.”
Reactions to the user’s initial post varied, with a large contingent of commenters expressing their belief that West was not actually “cancelled” and that any scrutiny or backlash received was well-deserved according to his divisive actions and statements.
On the second verse on “Blueslides,” the first single released from Blue Lips, ScHoolboy Q raps, “You ni**as see what I see?/ You ni**as really cancelled—, ni**a, I ain’t with it, nah/ We was screamin’, ‘mental health,’ and now we wanna kill ’em all,” lyrics that led to speculation regarding the identity of the unnamed “cancelled” figure.
