Scott Speedman Joins Yvonne Strahovski in Peacock’s Teacup — But What About Grey’s Anatomy?

It’s getting cozy inside Peacock’s Teacup: A day after Yvonne Strahovksi joined the horror-thriller, Scott Speedman also has been cast in a lead role.

Speedman (Grey’s Anatomy) will play opposite Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale) in the new series, our sister site Variety reports. Chaske Spencer (Echo) also has joined the cast.

Teacup, which is inspired by Robert McCammon’s 1988 novel Stinger, will shift the story’s setting from Texas to rural Georgia as a group of people face a mysterious threat and must unite to survive. James Wan (M3GAN, Annabelle) will executive-produce.

The original story took place over a single day in a town rocked by racial tension, gang violence and a collapsing economy. Those issues were exacerbated by an unidentified spacecraft cash-landing outside of town, followed by a second craft carrying an alien known as Stinger, who is “kind of an interstellar hunter on a mission he intends to complete,” per the book’s synopsis. Speedman will play James Chenoweth. Strahovski will play Maggie Chenoweth.

Speedman recurred as Dr. Nick Marsh on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy in Season 19; his presence in the medical drama’s new trailer indicates that he will continue to do so in the forthcoming Season 20, which premieres Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c.
