Scream Queen Kate Siegel Reveals the Intriguing Reason Why She Brings Her Kids Onto Horror Movie Sets
Scream queen Kate Siegel, knwon for her iconic roles in Haunting of Hill House, Hush, Oculus, and more, is clearly a modern-day Queen of horror. A mother of horror, one could say, and a mother in real life whose kids adore the genre as much as she. In fact, not only do her kids love the genre, but they even visit their mother on horror movie sets!
In a recent interview with People, Siegel revealed that she brings her two kids on set with her. And how do her kids respond? “They love horror,” she said, adding that “My 5-year-old has a ghost face doll. We also have a painting my son did of ghost face in the bathroom.”

Now? Why does she bring them on set? It builds bravery, and the ones she’s in are quite feminist. “It’s such a great way for kids to create bravery and understand that you can keep going even though you’re afraid….You have strong, powerful women succeeding and beating the men and monsters in the face of terrible odds. She then gave a disclaimer, saying, “Obviously, I’m not showing them things too dark, but my 13-year-old has also loved and watched horror since we introduced it to him around 10 or 11.”
For those who don’t know, Siegel married director Mike Flanagan in 2016, and later welcomed two children named Cody, 8, and Theodora, 5. She’s also the stepmother to Flanagan’s son from a previous relationship, 13.
