The following contains spoilers from the Season 7/series finale of SEAL Team, streaming on Paramount+.

For a cruel 20 seconds, the SEAL Team series finale had us thinking that Bravo suffered tragic loss in their latest spin-up to Afghanistan — as the soil and smoke of a landed missile dissolved to a church ceremony with the men in dress uniform, and everyone looking quite stoic.

But then the familiar opening notes of “Wedding March” pierced the heavy silence, and we saw Jason march daughter Emma down the church aisle, to marry boyfriend Brad.

“On the shoot date, that’s what they wanted to execute,” series vet Kerri Medders, who played Emma, told TVLine of the fiendish fake-out. “They had everyone being super sad, and then all of a sudden I walk down the aisle.”

While viewers at home felt relief at the sight of the beautiful bride, Medders while shooting that scene felt something quite different.

“That was the moment for me where I started getting emotional” about SEAL Team ending, she says. “Emma’s going to go on with her life now, and I’m glad people got to see that. She’s come so far.”

Medders adds that Emma’s wedding was also “a really weird moment,” because it put her in a wedding gown for the very first time. “It was my first time, so I’ll always remember it. I felt like it was real, but it wasn’t. ‘Emma’ was coming through, and I was like, ‘This is crazy!'”

Also crazy were the dance moves busted out by Medders’ TV dad at the outdoor wedding reception that followed. And if you think that David Boreanaz was simply “acting” like a goofy dancer, “Oh no, no, no, he is,” Medders reports.

“We were breaking it down on the dance floor, and he was cracking me up!” she adds. “We were doing, like, The Sprinkler and all these crazy things, but it was super funny. I couldn’t stop laughing.”
