Sean Spicer turns 'DWTS' into a political campaign: ‘'I figured I'd go back to my roots'
Things got political on Dancing With the Stars Monday night. After a poor showing during the premiere, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer announced he’s turning the dance competition into a political campaign.
“I figured I’d go back to my roots,” said Spicer, “ I'm going to run this like a campaign.” To go along with his announcement, Spicer surprised his partner Lindsay Arnold with a box of “Spicer-Arnold 2019” merchandise.
“We're going bumper stickers, yard signs, whatever it takes,” said Spicer, “If we can get people to vote for us, that will ensure we stay in the competition.”
The Spicer-Arnold campaign got off to a hot start on Twitter. Even his White House replacement Sarah Huckabee Sanders did some digital canvassing for him, “If you are man enough to dance in this neon green ruffled shirt on national television you get all my votes! Vote for my friend Sean Spicer.”
If you are man enough to dance in this neon green ruffled shirt on national television you get all my votes! 😂 Vote for my friend @seanspicer between 8-10pm ET by texting SEAN to 21523! #DWTS #SpicerArnold #TeamSweetandSpicey #MAGA pic.twitter.com/7QC8uPRxOD

But while votes are important for staying on the show, the whole point of being on the DWTS is to dance. Fortunately for Spicer, the judges thought he showed much improvement with during his Week 2 tango. In fact, he may just end up dancing and campaigning his way into the finals.
Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
