Will There Be a Season 2 of Shogun? – Release Date, How To Watch
Yesterday was a big day for FX, the network behind hit series such as The Bear and Shōgun, as they landed over 90 Emmy nominations for their series, with Shōgun securing 26 nominations.
Season one of Shōgun hit Disney+ and Hulu earlier this year to universal praise from critics and audiences who couldn't get enough of the ten-episode adaptation of James Clavell's 1975 novel.
That popular first season wrapped up in April, and fans want to know the answer to the question, "Will there be a Shōgun season two?"
We've gathered everything we know so far about the upcoming season, including when it will likely be available to stream.
What Is Shōgun About?
The official synopsis reads:
When a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village, Lord Yoshii Toranaga discovers secrets that could tip the scales of power and devastate his enemies.
Will There Be a Season Two of Shōgun?
Yes. John Landgraf, producer and Chairman of FX Networks, revealed to Variety that Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo are hard at work in the writers' room for the second series.
When Is Shōgun Season Two Coming?
A release date is yet to be confirmed, but Landgraf told Variety production hopes to commence in early 2025. He said season one took close to 200 days to shoot, meaning it's unlikely that we'll see season two before 2026.
Where Can I Watch Shōgun?
All ten episodes of season one are available for subscribers to watch on Hulu and Disney+.
The series is also available for premium subscribers on YouTube TV.
