See the “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” Cast Side-by-Side with the Real-Life People They Play
FX's 10-part limited series documents the rise and fall of former NFL player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez
American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez follows former NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez throughout his collegiate and professional career and also examines his dark personal life.
Following a successful collegiate football career at the University of Florida, Hernandez was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2010, played in the Super Bowl and eventually signed a $40 million dollar contract with the team before his arrest. The star tight end was eventually convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison but would only serve five years before his death by suicide on April 17, 2017.
Netflix previously produced a documentary in 2020, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, that told the story from the perspective of those around the star player. However, American Sports Story marks the first live-action portrayal of Hernandez’s story, starring Josh Andrés Rivera as the late athlete.
American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez will premiere on Sept. 17 at 10 p.m. ET on FX and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
Here's a look at the cast of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez alongside the real-life people they portray.
