CLEVELAND (WJW) — So you’re saying you can see the Cleveland Orchestra for free this week outside, and you don’t have to travel to Blossom Music Center?

The much-lauded orchestra is taking to Wade Oval Wednesdays (University Circle’s free concert series that runs through Aug. 14) with a lineup of well-loved tunes conducted by Vinay Parameswaran, who was previously an associate conductor with the group.

Here’s a look at the repertoire choices:

  • Leonard Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide”

  • Valerie Coleman’s “Seven O’Clock Shout”

  • Bed?ich Smetana’s “The Moldau” from “Má vlast”

  • William Grant Still’s “Summerland”

  • Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio espagnol”

In case of rain, the concert moves to Severance Music Center. The opening act for the concert is a group of Cleveland School of the Arts students, starting at 5:30 p.m. The orchestra performs at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring a blanket and chair and note there are plenty of food trucks available for the event.
