See which Grammy nominated artist is performing live at Duling Hall in Jackson
Award-winning singer, songwriter and lead guitarist, Samantha Fish, perform live at Dulling Hall on April 26.
Fish has made a name for herself as a multi-award-winning artist who captivates crowds with her guitar skills and has released six albums of her own throughout her career.
"I started playing the guitar around 15 years old and professional at 19 years old; fresh out of high school," said Fish in an interview with the Clarion Ledger. "I got into the Kansas City Blues scene and started making my way around jams, meeting other musician peers and started playing locally and caught a break from a German record label called Roof Records and they signed me in 2011."
Fish, who is from Kansas City, Missouri, currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana, said she is thrilled about performing live in Jackson at Duling Hall.
"I'm a fan of Jackson, I've been to Jackson plenty times, but I don't think I have ever been to Duling Hall so I'm excited about that," Fish said.
"Having Samantha Fish grace the stage at Duling Hall is nothing short of monumental," said Karyn Lewis, Duling Hall promoter. "In Jackson where the blues music scene thrives and pulses through the very heartbeat of the community, welcoming an artist of Fish's caliber feels like a homecoming of sorts. Her arrival adds another vibrant chapter to Jackson's rich musical legacy. It's not just a concert; it's a celebration of our city's musical heritage and an invitation for all to experience the magic of Mississippi blues firsthand. Get ready, Jackson, because the blues just got a whole lot cooler."
Fans can expect a great performance at Duling Hall, Fish said, as she is back with her solo band and going back to her older material that hardcore fans would appreciate.
She released a duo album titled "Death Wish Blues" with country singer Jessie Dayton in May 2022.
"We went into the studio together and worked with Jon Spencer and cut 12 tracks that we wrote together and the success has been great," Fish said. "Jessie is a really dynamic artist and he kind of comes from a different world than I do so we wanted to create something that was different from our solo ventures, and I feel like we did that because we got nominated for a Grammy this year so that was a massive honor."
The "Death Wish Blues" album was nominated for contemporary Blues album at this year's Grammy awards.
Fish will be on the "Faster' tour," which features songs from her 2021 album. The tour will kick off in Australia at the end of May this year.
