See St. Joseph: Country, karaoke and collaging

Aug. 22—Now that school is back in session, it's more important than ever to ensure the weekends are filled with fun and entertainment.

Hazel's Downtown is hosting another monthly karaoke night Friday and has invited St. Joseph to show up decked out with their favorite 90's clothes and beats. Enjoy some drinks, food and lots of singing. This month's karaoke will feature a 90's vibe for back to school, but 90's tunes are not required. Participants can call ahead to select a preferred performance time or just walk in. The party kicks off 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Hazels.

Country star Joe Nichols, known for his hit songs "Brokenheartsville" and "Gimmie that Girl," is coming to the Missouri Theatre on Friday night.

For over two decades, Nichols has bridged the gap between old-school country and the more contemporary sound. He has half a dozen No. 1 singles and 10 Top 10 hits under his belt, not to mention his three Grammy nominations, CMA award and AMC trophy. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Friday at the Missouri Theatre. To purchase tickets, visit ticketmaster.com.

With autumn being just around the corner, it's time to get into cozy craft season, and what better way to start it off than with a collage workshop at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art?

Robin VanHoozer is hosting a collage workshop to help participants tell a story through art. The workshop, called "Developing a Personal Narrative," will explore emotions and help guests illustrate their journey through collages. The class will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Albrecht Kemper. To purchase tickets for the workshop and included lunch, visit albrecht-kemper.org.
