Selena Gomez Receives First Acting Emmy Nom for ‘Only Murders in the Building’
Selena Gomez has received her first best lead actress in a comedy series nomination for Only Murders in the Building at the 2024 Emmys.
Gomez had previously been nominated for her work as an executive producer on the Emmy-winning series but not in an acting capacity.

She was nominated alongside Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson, The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri, Loot‘s Maya Rudolph, Hacks‘ Jean Smart and Palm Royale‘s Kristen Wiig.
Only Murders in the Building season three was nominated for best comedy series at the 2024 Emmys, alongside Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs and What We Do in the Shadows. This marks the Hulu series’ third nomination in the top category.
The multihyphenate joins her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who were both nominated for best actor in a comedy series for the third time. They’ll be competing against What We Do in the Shadows‘ Matt Berry, Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Larry David, The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White and Reservation Dogs‘ D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai.
Overall, Only Murders in the Building received 21 nominations at the 2024 Emmys, just behind The Bear, which received 23 noms this year for its second season. The Hulu series — produced by Gomez, Martin and Short — also garnered nods for supporting actor (Paul Rudd) and actress (Meryl Streep) in a comedy series, as well as guest actor (Matthew Broderick) and actress (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
The 2024 Emmys will be broadcast live Sunday, Sept. 15, from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/5:00-8:00 p.m. PT on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu. The ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
