Netflix reality TV fans can't get enough of the Oppenheim Group. Selling Sunset season 7 arrived with a dose of can't-miss drama on November 3, 2023, and fans quickly binged through all 11 new episodes. The latest season of Netflix's reality hit included some surprising new feuds (Chrishell vs Marie-Lou? Chrishell vs Amanza?) and a fashion-filled "work trip" to Cabo, before ending on a spectacular party, a major cliffhanger, and a reunion special.
There's always room for melodrama and intrigue in the world of luxury real estate, and thankfully Netflix has offered fans an update about what's next from TV's favorite brokers. Here's what we know so far about season 8 of Selling Sunset.
Has 'Selling Sunset' been renewed for season 8?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Selling Sunset received a season 8 renewal soon after season 7's airing, with Jason Oppenheim revealing the news on November 15, 2023. He also confirmed that the show would begin filming soon after, though he didn't give a timeline.
“For me, each season gets more and more fun,” he told the outlet. “When we were doing season one, we were like, ‘If we can get to season 3, we had a real show. Anything above that would be icing.’ We’ve been running on icing for years now.”
When will 'Selling Sunset' season 8 be released?
Netflix has confirmed that Selling Sunset season 8 will arrive on our screens on Friday, September 6, 2024. The streaming service announced the news by releasing a trailer—teasing that just because the real estate market's on a downturn, it doesn't mean that the Sunset office won't be filled with drama.
Some of the highlights from the clip include the introduction of a new cast member, Alanna Whittaker, and a hint of continued discord, with Nicole Young claiming that she has information that could "affect families, marriages." It also seems that the biggest storyline will come from the re-emergence of Bre Tiesi and Chelsea Lazkani's feud, concerning Lazkani's divorce from her husband Jeff Lazkani.
Who will be in the cast of 'Selling Sunset' season 8?
Most of the main cast is returning for the new season, including Chrishell Stause, Jason and Brett Oppenheim, Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet, Amanza Smith, Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, Nicole Young, and Bre Tiesi.
This season will also welcome a new realtor named Alanna Gold (née Whittaker), a former model from Canada who started her real estate career in 2020, according to her LinkedIn.
Meanwhile, Heather Rae El Moussa seems to have left the series after appearing in fewer episodes in season 7 following the birth of her baby boy. In an Instagram post shared on the day of season 7's release, the original cast member wrote, "Everything happens how it’s meant to ??….. And we all have a plan. It’s bittersweet to not be a part of SS anymore. But I do know that good or bad I wouldn’t change the experiences I had. Let the drama begin ?? I’ll be no part of it ???Thank you -> next ????."
What has the 'Selling Sunset' cast said about season 8?
With only days until Selling Sunset season 8 hits Netflix, it seems like the cast has been watching the episodes early ... and isn't happy. According to PEOPLE, Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani posted several Instagram Stories over Labor Day weekend seemingly referring to discord between Nicole Young and Emma Hernan.
In screenshots of the August 31 posts shared by @queensofbravo on X (formerly Twitter), Chrishell warned fans that a cast member allegedly lied in the upcoming season, and accused both said co-star and the show's production company for "blindsiding" the subject of it. Though Chrishell only addresses the alleged liar as "she," Chrishell did add a poll prompt reading, "Get Nicole Off My Screen Button."
"I will NEVER work on a show with her on it again. I would rather be sued," Chrishell wrote, seemingly referring to Nicole. "Disclaimer when you watch: just know she spews a disgusting lie about a bestie that is categorically FALSE and SUPER damaging. It is NOT TRUE."
Chrishell continued by addressing the show's production company, Done and Done Productions, writing, "and you are disgusting for blindsiding her with this to see with the world instead of letting her at LEAST defend herself with the TRUTH."
According to separate screenshots shared by @queensofbravo, Chelsea also posted a set of Instagram Stories on the same day, in which she called out Nicole, along with Bre Tiesi and Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet. The first post directly addressed Nicole, with Chelsea writing, "You are the most diabolical piece of [trash can emoji] I've ever met, you wanna start a rumor about Emma because all the rumors about you are true. Okay lets see how this works out for you..."
She continued, "[Done and Done Productions] where is your moral ground and integrity?? Spreading lies for views is so damaging."
Per PEOPLE, Nicole seemingly responded to the allegations in a September 2 Instagram Story, posting several pictures of her dogs. Over one image of her dog lying on a blanket, Nicole wrote, "With all the outside drama this weekend, this has been the vibe at our house. #unbothered,” adding a crying laughing emoji.
She reportedly added in another post, "Truly unbothered. Life is good."
What has the cast been up to since season 7 was filmed?
Because of reality TV filming and release schedules, viewers who have kept up with the cast's social media may already sense what a new season might be about by the time episodes drop. (See Chrishell and Amanza's feud, which played out online before season 7 even got a trailer.)
This time around, we know from the season 8 trailer, the new episodes will center on Chelsea Lazkani's split from her husband of seven years, advertising exec Jeff Lazkani. According to PEOPLE, Chelsea filed for divorce in March 2024, citing "irreconcilable differences," and filing for joint custody of their two young children.
While speaking to Access Hollywood in May 2024, Chelsea gave an update on how she was fairing amid the divorce. "I'm doing good," she told the outlet. "Ups and downs, take every day as it comes, but today I'm doing really good."
At the time, she remained coy when asked whether Selling Sunset would see the divorce play out on season 8. "You're going to have to watch it, aren't you?" she joked. "What do you mean, ‘Will we see what happened?' What do you think I am? Think I started yesterday?"
For another romantic update, season 8 will also likely feature a single Jason Oppenheim, as the boss and his ex-girlfriend Marie-Lou Nurk called it quits in May 2023 after 10 months of dating. At the time, Jason posted a statement on Instagram, which read, per PEOPLE, "While we still love and care about each other very much, the distance between us has proven to be too great a challenge to overcome. We remain close friends and continue to talk often and support each other and we want the very best for one another. We thank everyone for their support throughout our relationship."
While season 8 likely won't include the immediate aftermath of the breakup—filming on season 7 reportedly ended around March or April 2023—new episodes will likely explore how Chrishell and Jason's friendship has evolved since Chrishell decided to take a step back from it following a filmed fight with Marie-Lou.
