Selma Blair gets teary eyed as she triumphantly walks red carpet with a cane at Oscars party
Selma Blair made a splash at the Vanity Fair Oscars party Sunday marking the actress’s first official appearance after a difficult year. In October, Blair announced that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Wearing a stunning multicolored Ralph & Russo gown, Blair returned to the red carpet with her same fierce sense of fashion, but new accessory — a cane. One of the most common symptoms of the autoimmune disease is difficulty walking; however, that hardly stopped the Cruel Intentions star from making a glamorous arrival. And it was an emotional moment for Blair, who wiped away tears as she posed for photographers.
The moment we will all be talking about tomorrow is the courageous #SelmaBlair, making her first appearance since announcing her MS diagnosis, at the VF Oscar party. She needs a cane to help walk, but she came to prove that no matter how tough this disease, she is a fighter. 🙌 pic.twitter.com/bCTo0hA59d

The 46-year-old actress revealed on Instagram Saturday that she wanted “a special cane” for the Vanity Fair bash, so a patent leather monogrammed accessory with a real pink diamond was created. “Hours of love put in,” she remarked. “I burst into tears.”

The actress’s post was flooded with comments of support.
“You look amazing,” Busy Philipps wrote.
“Hi beauty,” added Debra Messing.
“You look amazing, Selma! Hope you have fun! You deserve it!” one follower commented. Another added, “You inspire me Selma Blair.”
In October, Blair announced that she had been diagnosed with MS two months before. “I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps,” she wrote in an emotional post.
“I have had symptoms for years but was never taken seriously until I fell down in front of [my doctor] trying to sort out what I thought was a pinched nerve,” Blair added. “I have probably had this incurable disease for 15 years at least. And I am relieved to at least know.”
