Sepultura Are Calling It Quits, Tease 2024 Farewell Tour
Hot on the heels of wrapping up their 2023 Australian tour around Good Things Festival earlier this month, Sepultura have now announced a dramatic plan to call it quits.
The Brazilian metal icons will hang up their guitars after 40 years as a band, but not before one final, monumental, world tour.
“Sepultura has reached the end of the road”
“Sepultura has reached the end of the road and has chosen to depart via a conscious and planned death,” the band posted in a big statement on their social pages.
“Throughout the next 18 months we will celebrate 40 years of existence together along with our loyal fans on a farewell tour across the entire globe. It will be a celebration of the past and the present for one final time.”
The band have already announced a stack of final dates for the UK and Europe to kick-off 2024. No word yet if one final Australian tour will figure onto the band’s final ever global itinerary, but given their long history of touring here, we reckon the odds should be in our favour.
“We are happy and very grateful for everything we could witness within the past four decades,” the band’s statement continues. “We have released great albums and played unforgettable shows, cultivated friendships, met our idols, contributed to placing Brazilian metal on the world map, and therefore feel that we can leave the music scene with a sense of duty fulfilled.
“We’ve always had the best fans in the world, who supported us with praise and criticism, who were demanding and intelligent, who grew together with the band and have always been loyal. Without you, none of this would have been possible. This album and this tour are for you. Dear SepulNation – we love you and always will!”
Sepultura’s statement concludes: “Euthanasia, the right to a dignified death. The right to choose to live free and to choose when you die!”
The band also plans to record 40 songs live in 40 cities across their final ever world tour, which will go on to be released as a compilation album after they wrap things up.
We’ll bring you more details on their forthcoming final ever world tour announcement as soon as we’re across it…
