Serena Williams Shares Stunning Never-Before-Seen Maternity Photos on Her Daughter’s First Birthday
Serena Williams has officially been a mom of two for a year now (!!), and she’s celebrating by reflecting on her pregnancy with baby Adira. The Olympic gold medalist just shared never-before-seen maternity photos from her 2023 pregnancy, and she is absolutely stunning in every one.
“A year ago today – August 15th – I gave birth to my second baby girl, Adira River Ohanian,” Williams wrote on Instagram. “She is a true light. Here’s a peek inside my maternity shoot. @adiraohanian”

In the stunning snaps (which you can see HERE), Williams has that gorgeous pregnancy glow. In one photo, she lies down in a bed of pink and white flowers, draped in a delicate pink dress that shows off her baby bump. One hand cradles her bump and the other is raised above her head in the sexy photo.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion is completely nude in the next photo, hanging mid-air on an aerial silk, with one foot pointed up and her head thrust back. Her bump is the focus, but her amazing athleticism can’t be discounted either. She’s truly incredible!
Williams closes her eyes and has a hand on her bare bump in the last photo, where she is dressed in a sports bra and underwear and holding a hanging loop. Long swaths of fabric flow from armbands on both arms in the ethereal picture.
“Stunning. ?????? AND she can aerial while pregnant. ???????” one person wrote. Another said, “These pictures are stunning—wow! They truly capture the beauty of motherhood. It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year, time is flying by!??”
During her pregnancy with Adira, Williams also took family photos with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their now 6-year-old daughter Olympia. She shared the photos on Instagram, including one where the trio is dressed in matching white and Olympia is holding her mom’s hand and kissing her stomach. You can tell how excited she is for her baby sis! She also shared a photo of just her, wearing an iridescent white dress and cradling her bump.
“Adira is a girl’s name of Hebrew origin and means ‘mighty,’ ‘strong,’ and ‘majestic,’” she captioned the photos (which you can see HERE). “The elegant name is popular in many cultures around the world. Adira is the feminine form of the classic name Adir. It is a Biblical name, meaning ‘Strong One.’
Ohanian commented on her post, “She’s ONE! ?? how did that happen so fast.” (Seriously — we can’t believe it either!)
Mindy Kaling commented, “Gorgeous name for a icon.”
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in June, the In The Arena: Serena Williams star opened up about how parenting is with her second baby. “I think [the] second time around is — I’m a little but more like, you know, if Adira falls, I don’t die like with Olympia,” she said. “Now I’m like, ‘Oh, she’s tough, she’ll be fine.’ And she is tough.”
