That means we still have a long wait ahead of us — Severance will have been off the air for nearly three years by the time it returns — but at least Apple TV+ gave us a tantalizing new teaser to tide us over in the meantime. In the teaser, which you can watch above, we see Lumon staffers Mark, Dylan, Irving and Helly head into the office elevator as we hear them give their consent to Lumon’s brain-dividing technology. Then we get quick flashes of the staffers in peril before a final shot of a mystery woman (played by Game of Thrones vet Gwendoline Christie) gravely telling Mark and Helly: “You should’ve left.”
Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark, a worker drone at the mysterious Lumon corporation who has undergone a surgical procedure to separate his work memories from his personal memories — a separation that became more hazy as Season 1 unfolded. In Season 2, “Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe,” per the official description.
The supporting cast includes Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette, with Sarah Bock joining the cast in Season 2 as a series regular. Series creator Dan Erickson returns as writer and executive producer. Ben Stiller returns as an executive producer as well and will direct five of Season 2’s 10 episodes.
Severance debuted way back in February 2022 and earned strong acclaim for its freshman season, snagging 14 Emmy nominations. It was renewed for Season 2 that April, but rumors of behind-the-scenes strife (that Stiller later denied) and last year’s dual Hollywood strikes pushed back production, with cameras finally rolling this January.
