Severance is (finally) coming back, and it’s time to meet the new Lumon employees.

Apple TV+ has released a new teaser for the highly anticipated Season 2 of the sci-fi thriller — which you can watch above — and in it, we see Adam Scott’s Mark sprinting through a labyrinth of sterile hallways in the Lumon building while we see and hear flashes from the previous season… along with a few new moments, too. (That watermelon artfully carved to look like Irving’s head does look delicious.)

But Mark stops running when he arrives at his old work area — and is greeted by three new co-workers, played by Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Bob Balaban (The Chair) and Stefano Carannante (Blue Bloods). “Who are you people?” he asks, just as Milchick enters with a big smile and a handful of balloons with Mark’s face on them. “Welcome back, Mark S.,” he says warmly… and ominously. “Been a minute.”

It has been a minute, in fact: Severance debuted way back in February 2022 and earned strong acclaim for its freshman season, snagging 14 Emmy nominations. It was renewed for Season 2 that April, but rumors of behind-the-scenes strife (that executive producer/director Ben Stiller later denied) and last year’s dual Hollywood strikes pushed back production, with cameras finally rolling this January.

Scott stars as Mark, a worker drone at the mysterious Lumon corporation who has undergone a surgical procedure to separate his work memories from his personal memories — a separation that became more hazy as Season 1 unfolded. In Season 2 (premiering Friday, Jan. 17), “Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe,” per the official description.

The supporting cast includes Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette, with Sarah Bock joining the cast in Season 2 as a series regular. Series creator Dan Erickson returns as writer and executive producer. Stiller returns as an EP as well and will direct five of Season 2’s 10 episodes.

Press PLAY above to see who’s joining Mark on the Lumon payroll, and then hit the comments to share your hopes and predictions for Season 2.
