Blair Underwood would never say never to returning to Sex and the City.

The actor, 60, told PEOPLE that he had "a great experience" on the 2000s romantic comedy-drama series and is open to reprising his role in the hit Max revival And Just Like That... while at the premiere of his new show Three Women on Monday, Sept. 9, in New York City.

"That was a great experience for me and I almost didn't do it, but I'm glad I did," Underwood says of playing Dr. Robert Leeds on the show two decades ago.

Though, when it comes to returning to the fictional universe, the actor has a few stipulations. "It would depend on what it is and where my character would be going — all the things you ask," he says. "But I love the idea."

Underwood played sports doctor Robert in the sixth and final season of Sex and the City. His character served as a love interest for main character Miranda, portrayed by Cynthia Nixon. The two had a short-lived relationship before Miranda suddenly decided to get back together with her ex.

The Elsbeth actor starred in five episodes of the season, which aired from 2003 to 2004.

In a 2021 interview with Vulture, Underwood praised his character, recalling, "He was cool! He’s got access to courtside seats at the Knicks games. The character was all on the paper, and all I had to do was step in his shoes and not mess it up."

He also noted the chemistry between his character and Miranda and said, "I think if the writers wanted to explore an iteration where they ended up together, they could have."

Fast-forward to present day, the reboot series saw Miranda getting into a relationship with a non-binary person named Che, played by Sara Ramírez, but they broke up in the second season, leaving room for a new love interest to swoop in in the upcoming third season.
