Sexyy Red cancels Milwaukee concert one day after Brewers announce she'd throw first pitch
A day after the Milwaukee Brewers announced that Sexyy Red would throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Sunday's game at American Family Field, the rap star has called off her Milwaukee show that had been scheduled for Fiserv Forum on Monday.
Red's "Sexyy Red 4 President" tour stop at the Milwaukee Bucks arena Sept. 9 — with Kodak Black, Hunxho, Loe Shimmy and BlakeIANA! opening — has been canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances," according to the event page on the arena's website. A show at the Armory in Minneapolis this Saturday also was canceled, according to Ticketmaster, with tickets still on sale for shows slated for Thursday, Friday, Tuesday and other dates in September and October. Billboard reported last month that she has quietly canceled some dates.
Social media observers have been commenting about apparent low-ticket sales for Red's inaugural arena tour, prompting Red to insist on social media that fans were buying tickets and that the tour would not be canceled.
When the Journal Sentinel checked in July, the vast majority of seats were available for the Milwaukee date, with the upper bowl closed off, according to a seating map on Ticketmaster. Fewer seats remained this month, but many were still available.
On Friday, the Brewers confirmed that Red wouldn't be throwing out the first pitch at Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies, either.
Red, who played a near-capacity Eagles Ballroom at the Rave last November, isn't the only major arena tour that abandoned Milwaukee plans this year. Bryan Adams, the Black Keys, Keith Sweat and Future with Metro Boomin are among the artists that canceled Fiserv Forum shows in 2024.
Anyone who purchased a ticket for the cancelled Sexyy Red show from the Fiserv Forum box office or on Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded within the next 30 days.
