Shameless has been renewed for a 12-episode seventh season, Showtime announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Tuesday.
The news comes just two days after the debut of the sixth season, which picked up with the Gallaghers facing another harsh Chicago winter.
“Shameless has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past six years,” said Gary Levine, Showtime’s president of programming. “We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental, and the entire cast, producers and writers – and we so appreciate Shameless‘ clear and distinctive voice.”
Shameless airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
