Sharon Stone made a statement at the 2024 Torin Film Festival. The actress arrived at the red carpet with a trailing cape consisting of 3,000 silk flowers.

Stone, who was  in attendance to receive an honorary Stella della Mole prize, for her robust career of films that include “Basic Instinct,” “Casino,” and “Total Recall,” wore a look by Tony Ward from the designer’s fall 2024 collection. She opted for a strapless red mosaic gown that had a stained glass effect and a plunging neckline, and paired it with the designer’s “statement cape” that’s adorned with 3,000 silk organza flowers.

The actress embraced both the 3D floral trend and the red for fall trend that have been reigning this year. Three-dimensional florals were a breakout trend at this year’s Met Gala, where Nicki Minaj, Gigi Hadid, Kerry Washington, Ayo Edebiri, Kelsea Ballerini and Karlie Kloss all embraced sculptural blossoms. The three-dimensional floral trend also populated the runways of BalmainChristian Cowan and Marni during the spring 2024 season.

Meanwhile, the red trend was a standout at this year’s SAG Awards among stars like Reese WitherspoonEmily Blunt and Lily Gladstone, and at last weekend’s Deadline’s 2024 Contenders Film: Los Angeles, where Saoirse Ronan, Lupita Nyong’o, Ryan Destiny, and Mikey Madison all put forth takes on it.

Red emerged as a breakout color for fall 2024, with labels like Bottega VenetaFerragamoVictoria Beckham, and Issey Miyake embracing it on the runway. Red accessories also trended for fall 2024, with bags from ChanelFerragamo,  Dries Van Noten, and Louis Vuitton in a variety of deep red shades, from merlot to mahogany, bordeaux, and burgundy.

In March, Laura Larbalestier, fashion director at Harvey Nichols, told WWD, “red has to be the predominant color of the season and was seen in nearly every collection.” That sentiment was echoed by Alix Morabito from Galeries Lafayette, who told WWD, “Red is without a doubt this season’s staple, whether it be in bright flashes or total looks.”

Red was also favored at the 2024 Torino Film Festival by Rosario Dawson, who wore a red sequin-striped blouse with a velvet suit and a pair of pointed-toe heels, and Italian actress and singer Claudia Gerini, who went with a monochromatic burgundy ensemble in a high-slit leather pencil skirt and matching winged sleeve blouse.
