Amazon orders half-hour 'Shaun the Sheep' special plus three other kids series

Amazon has picked up a half-hour special Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llama along with three additional kids series (Dino Dana, The Kicks, and Lost in Oz), the streaming service announced on Friday.

Set to debut for Prime members in the U.S. on Nov. 13, Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llama follows Shaun as he spies three llamas at the County Fair, and convinces the Farmer to buy them. Everything starts out great, but circumstances quickly take a turn and Shaun is forced to step in and save the farm before it’s too late. The special was penned by Lee Pressman, Richard Starzak, and Nick Vincent Murphy, and directed by Shaun the Sheep’s Jay Grace.

Dino Dana, a preschool program created and directed by Dino Dan’s J.J. Johnson, will focus on “paleontologist in training” Dana and her older sister, Emily, as the two begin to explore the world of dinosaurs.

Based on U.S. Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan’s book series, the live-action series The Kicks follows Devin Burke (Sixx Orange), who was the best player on her soccer team – until she’s forced to move to California. Once there, she must rally her new team at school in the hopes of turning their losing season around. E’myri Crutchfield, Gabe Eggerling, Sophia Mitri Schloss, Monica Lacy, and Tim Martin Gleason also star.

Finally, the animated series from Bureau of Magic’s Mark Warshaw, Darin Mark, Jared Mark, and Smallville’s Abram Makowka, Lost in Oz puts a spin on the classic The Wizard of Oz as 12-year-old Dorothy Gales finds herself stranded in Emerald City. Luckily, she becomes fast friends with a young (possibly dangerous) witch named West and Ojo, a mammoth munchkin, and along with Toto, the trio set off on an adventure to get Dorothy back to Kansas. But Oz’s current magic crisis only complicates things for Dorothy and the gang, making the journey home that much more difficult.

“We’re excited to offer our Prime members a beautifully reimagined world in our first original kids 6-to-11 animated series and bring to the screen Alex Morgan’s successful book series with an inspirational role model at the core,” head of kids programming at Amazon Studios, Tara Sorensen said, in a statement. “Aardman and Sinking Ship are award-winning producers and we’re excited to debut Dino Dana and Shaun the Sheep on Prime Video.”

Dino Dana, The Kicks, and Lost in Oz will be available for Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Austria in 2016.
