Shay Mitchell mom-shamed for attending Drake's birthday party soon after giving birth
Shay Mitchell is being criticized for attending Drake’s star-packed birthday party in the same week that she announced the birth of her first child.
The actress, who’s best known for her starring role in Pretty Little Liars, and her boyfriend, Matte Babel, attended the Thursday bash at Goya Studios in Los Angeles.
Multiple stories about her date night generated some mean comments.
“I understand parents need a night out once in a while, but days after giving birth??” a Yahoo Canada reader wrote. “Sorry but who even wants to be out days after giving birth? Post partum pads aren’t hot. Stay home and rest your body and bond with your baby.”
“I just cannot imagine wanting to go party a few days after giving birth,” someone wrote on the Daily Mail’s story.
Another reader quipped, “‘Never letting go’... except 5 days after you’re born to go party. Babies need their mommies 24/7 when first born. Sad.”
That last one was a dig at the sweet caption that Mitchell used for the first photo she shared of her baby girl on Monday.
Mitchell, who experienced a devastating miscarriage last year and documented much of her pregnancy on her YouTube series, Almost Ready, actually didn’t say exactly when her daughter was born. She also hasn’t revealed the baby’s name yet.
Her fans and friends, including Vanessa Hudgens and Nikki Reed, gushed over the Instagram photo of her baby girl’s tiny hands. Lots of heart emojis were posted and congratulations were shared.
The comments on that one were, overall, much nicer, although we imagine that she’s too in love with her daughter to care.
