Shayna Baszler Chokes Ronda Rousey Out In MMA Rules Match At WWE SummerSlam
Shayna Baszler scored one of the biggest wins of her career at WWE SummerSlam.
At WWE SummerSlam, former friends and tag team champions Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey clashed in an MMA Rules Match. The two stars had been feuding since WWE Money in the Bank, where Baszler turned on Rousey and cost the duo the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
The bout was a physical contest from the start, as Baszler rocked Rousey with a stiff kick. Both competitors leaned on their backgrounds as former MMA fighters. Rousey drilled Baszler with a knee to the face. Baszler seemingly hurt her shoulder when she took a spill to the outside. Medical officials checked on her, but Rousey attacked them.
Rousey escaped Baszler’s Kirifuda Clutch, and the rivals exchanged submission holds. In the end, Baszler countered a high knee and locked Rousey in the Kirifuda Clutch. Rousey passed out, so the referee called for the bell.
