‘Sherlock’ @ Comic-Con: Season 4 Trailer Teases Moriarty's Return
By Rebecca Iannucci
Sherlock fans, you’re about to get rewarded for your patience.
Though Season 4 of the PBS drama won’t debut until 2017, a sneak peek of the new episodes was offered up during Sherlock‘s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday.
In the teaser trailer above — which was met with quite a few gasps from the fans in Hall H — the titular sleuth’s exile from the United Kingdom is put on hold so he can once again face off against nemesis Moriarty. The only problem? Holmes has no idea how to stop his foe from wreaking utter havoc.
The sneak peek also gives us a glimpse at Toby Jones’ new villain, who’s got the maniacal laugh down pat.
And if the teaser trailer weren’t intense enough, star Benedict Cumberbatch assured fans that the three upcoming installments are some of the series’ most gripping.
“The ones we’re doing now are so ambitious,” he hinted. “It’s an emotional roller coaster, this [season]. There’s a huge learning curve.”
