Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony Hale Tapped To Announce 76th Emmy Nominations In July
The Emmys have recruited two distinguished vets to reveal this year’s nominees. Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale have signed on to share the official roster, which will be unveiled live on July 17 at 8:30 a.m. PT from Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
“While this year has been marked by significant challenges for our industry and its workforce, there has been an abundance of remarkable programs, extraordinary performances and impactful storytelling,” Television Academy chair Cris Abrego said, per Variety. “Great television relies on the contributions of so many, and we are delighted to have Tony and Sheryl help us acknowledge excellence across our field as we embark on a season of tremendous celebration.”
The upcoming event will be the second Primetime Emmys ceremony of the year, as the 75th Emmys aired in January 2024 after being delayed four months due to the Hollywood strikes. The 76th Emmys will air live on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
Ralph being chosen is no surprise, as many will remember her legendary acceptance speech upon winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series last year. “To anyone who has ever, ever, had a dream and thought your dream wasn’t, couldn’t wouldn’t come true, I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like, this is what striving looks like, and don’t you ever, ever give up,” she reminded the audience. Last year’s ceremony included many highlights, including a heartwarming reunion of the cast of Martin, Quinta Brunson making history as the first Black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series in over 30 years, and Ayo Edebiri scoring Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series.
