While she didn't mention much else about Freeman in the book, MacLaine elaborated a bit about him in an interview with the publication.
"Oh, I really liked him right away," she said. "I thought his acting was brilliant. I barely said anything, and he just shook his head. Isn't that interesting?"
Along with Freeman, MacLaine worked and crossed paths with many major stars over the years, such as Jack Nicholson and Elvis Presley. Regarding Nicholson, whom she starred with in Terms of Endearment, MacLaine said, "He just made me laugh all the time. He was one of my favorite people."
She noted that she never felt anything romantic toward him, saying, "I don't think he would've been my type to have an affair with anyway. I would laugh too much."
When the two acted together in the 1983 film, MacLaine was likely in the middle of her divorce from Steve Parker, to whom she was married from 1954 to 1982. The couple had one daughter named Sachi Parker, born in 1956.
Years later, MacLaine claimed she and Parker had an open relationship, leaving the actress free to pursue relationships with others on the side.
A few actors MacLaine has said she had relationships with included Danny Kaye, Robert Mitchum and politician Andrew Peacock, among others. MacLaine also had close friendships with many iconic actresses, including Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn.
