‘Shrek 5’ release date announced; Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy & Cameron Diaz to reprise roles

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — It’s time to go back to a place Far, Far Away!

DreamWorks announced a new release date for Shrek 5 — which will bring back Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz back as the lovable Shrek and Fiona along with Eddie Murphy as their old pal, Donkey.

The new entry to the Shrek franchise is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2026.

“The All Star Returns,” DreamWorks said with a Monday social media announcement.

At this time, it is not known if Antonia Banderas will be returning as Puss in Boots, who had his own hit movie “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” in 2022. That movie teased a return to the main Shrek universe in its ending.

According to Variety, “Shrek 5” will be directed by Walt Dohrn, who worked on the three previous movies as a writer, artist, head of story, and even voice actor for the villain Rumpelstiltskin.
