Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and the Shrinking crew are back for more adventures in season 2!

On Monday, Aug. 5, Apple TV+ revealed the first look at season 2 of Shrinking, and announced that the comedy series starring Segel, Ford and Jessica Williams will return with the first two episodes on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Season 2 will consists of 12 episodes, with the following 10 airing weekly on Wednesdays through Dec. 25.

The show continues telling the story of Segel as a grieving therapist who "stars to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks," per the official logline. "Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people's lives...including his own."

Several of the first look photos feature Segel as Jimmy Laird and Williams as Gaby, one of his colleagues at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center.

Ford's character Dr. Paul Rhoades is seen in only one of the photos, and he and Jimmy seem to be preparing to embark on a canoe trip of some kind – though he doesn't look all that pleased about it.

Jimmy's relationship with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) will also continue to be a main focus in season 2, as Alice is featured in two of the photos. In one shot, she and her dad sit face-to-face in the middle of what appears to be an intense conversation.

In another, she and Brian (Michael Urie) sit next to each other on a couch, as her dad's best friend looks at her with intense look in his eyes, and Alice seems distraught.

After season 1 of the therapy comedy series premiered in early 2023, Segel told Yahoo! that "one of the things [Shrinking] exposes is that "we're all a mess" as he opened up about how his own experiences with his mental health influenced the show.

"I've asked for help so many times in my life, in so many different ways," he said. "I have always struggled a bit with anxiety, and some sense that something is wrong."

For Variety's Actors on Actors series last year, the How I Met Your Mother alum told Ali Wong that his motivation for creating Shrinking "was grief."

"It was just trying to think of this idea that I think is kind of universal, beyond just losing a loved one. We filmed right after the pandemic. Everything was so weird. Culturally, we couldn't quite name it, but we all had this sense that something was taken from us that we'll never get back."

Reflecting on his career, he also told the comedian he's "only just now starting to believe that everything's OK."

"But that has not been my experience of how I feel during any of it. I'm always a little bit scared of, 'How do I keep it up?'"
