Simone Biles joins 'The Voice' as playoff advisor leaving some confused, others excited
Simone Biles is joining "The Voice" as a playoff advisor and some fans are flipping out over the surprising choice.
On Thursday, NBC announced that the Olympic gold medalist, who is the most decorated gymnast in history, would appear on the network's flagship singing competition as an advisor for Team Snoop after the rap legend Snoop Dogg recruited her for the position.
Biles, known as the GOAT, is fresh off a groundbreaking run during her third Olympic Games in Paris where she won four medals: three gold medals from the team, all-around and vault competitions and a silver on floor exercise.
Biles' "The Voice" episode premieres 7 p.m. central time Monday. In a recent interview, Biles told the Associated Press that she and Snoop Dogg were a gold medal-deserving duo.
"We were able to riff off each other and give the artists the best insight going into the next round," Biles said in an interview with the AP. "It was pretty easy, simple. We’re both very mellow. But if we need to bring that energy up, then we can. For us, it was about instilling confidence going into the next week."

'I would know': Commenters defend Simone Biles' appearance after some are left 'baffled'
But some fans were "baffled" by the decision to have Biles while others on IG defended the GOAT.
The decision was panned and praised by different users in the comment section of the official Biles announcement.
One user wrote: "She’s amazing but no offense but she’s not a singer and can’t help them in the ways that they need it."
Another threw shade at Biles and Snoop Dogg, saying that "actually feel bad for the contestants on this team….. they are getting zero credible musical advice from an experienced musician like the other teams are."
"I love her," one said, but continued, writing "I'm baffled."
Others took Biles' side, with one Instagram user, writing "I was expecting someone in the music industry but she can actually give great advice for being stage ready etc. I'm intrigued to see how it goes."
"This totally makes sense when you realize that these people can already SING and what they need is training on stage presence, confidence, and performance, which she’s an expert in," one commenter said in defense of Biles.
Even Season 23 finalist Noivas Wright defended the Olympic champion ahead of "The Voice" appearance.
"People not realizing that Simone can actually give great advice on performance, routine, stage presence, and confidence. It’s not just about “the voice”. They can already sing they don’t need advice on that… trust me, I would know, as a performer from the show," Wright wrote.
