Singer Mike Posner airlifted to hospital after rattlesnake bite
Mike Posner is recovering after being bitten by a rattlesnake. The singer, known for hits like "Cooler Than Me" and "Please Don't Go," shared the news on social media Thursday.
"Crazy day yesterday! I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for 8 more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake," he captioned a video on Instagram. "That venom is no joke!"
Posner, 31, has been on a Forrest Gump-style Walk Across America, which began in Asbury, N.J. and is set to end in Venice Beach, Calif. The "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" singer is OK after the incident and is recovering in the hospital.
"I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time," he said, thanking the team who airlifted him to safety. "I’ll be here a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in a while Hahahaha! Can’t wait to get back on The Walk!"
Posner hopes his Walk Across America will inspire others to seize the day and live in the moment. On his website, he adds that he hopes to "Practice deep listening: I will be spending periods of my walk compassionately listening to people with as much of my full attention as possible. This means listening to others, not to the voice in my head." He was inspired to do the walk after a series of tragedies. In 2017, Posner's father died from brain cancer and one year later, he lost close friends Avicii and Mac Miller.
Well wishes are pouring in from fellow stars. "What!!!! Get well soon, sending best wishes to you," Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown wrote.
"Rest up bro. Glad you are ok," added Joe Jonas.
Jessie J chimed in, "You are a real life super hero."
